في لحظةٍ من لحظات الصراع السوداني الذي لا يزال يحصد الأرواح ويهدم القيم، ارتقت الصحفية الميدانية آسيا الخليفة شهيدةً للحقيقة والكلمة الحرة في مدينة الفاشر، لتدفع روحها ثمناً لشرف المهنة ومبادئ الإنسانية.

كانت آسيا الخليفة مثالاً للمرأة السودانية الشجاعة التي اختارت مواجهة الموت لتوثيق الحقيقة، فاستُهدفت مع مجموعة من الجنود الذين رفضوا تسليمها لقوات الدعم السريع، وأعلنوا أنهم سيدافعون عنها حتى الرمق الأخير.

هذا الحادث المروّع يجسد حجم الخطر الذي يواجهه الصحفيون في مناطق النزاع، ويكشف استهدافاً مباشراً لحرية الإعلام وحق العالم في المعرفة. لقد أدانت منظمة اليونسكو هذه الجريمة، مؤكدةً على وجوب احترام الحماية القانونية للصحفيين بموجب القانون الدولي الإنساني، إلا أن صمت مجلس الأمن الدولي والمجتمع الدولي وعدم صدور أي بيان رسمي حتى اللحظة يمثل إخفاقاً مؤلماً وتقاعساً واضحاً في أداء مسؤولياته الأخلاقية والإنسانية.

هذا الحادث المروّع يجسد حجم الخطر الذي يواجهه الصحفيون في مناطق النزاع، ويكشف استهدافاً مباشراً لحرية الإعلام وحق العالم في المعرفة.

ولم يكن استهداف الصحفية آسيا الخليفة حادثاً معزولاً، بل يأتي ضمن سلسلة من الانتهاكات الممنهجة التي ترتكبها مليشيا الدعم السريع الإرهابية بحق المدنيين في السودان، من قتل جماعي وإبادة وتطهير عرقي واغتصاب ونزوح ولجوء وتشريد قسري واسع النطاق، في خرقٍ صريحٍ وواضحٍ لأحكام القانون الدولي الإنساني واتفاقيات جنيف الأربع لعام 1949 وبروتوكولاتها الإضافية، إضافة إلى القانون الدولي لحقوق الإنسان وميثاق الأمم المتحدة.

إن هذه الجرائم التي تمارسها المليشيا تشكل جرائم حرب وجرائم ضد الإنسانية، ويجب أن تُصنَّف المليشيا بموجب القانون الدولي كـ منظمة إرهابية تُهدد السلم والأمن الدوليين، ويجب محاسبة قادتها ومن يدعمهم داخلياً أو خارجياً.

إننا نطالب من خلال هذا الخطاب بما يلي:

1. إصدار بيان رسمي عاجل من مجلس الأمن الدولي يدين استهداف الصحفيين في السودان ويُحمّل الجهات المسؤولة التبعات القانونية.

2. فتح تحقيق دولي مستقل في جريمة اغتيال المراسلة آسيا الخليفة وكل الانتهاكات المشابهة ضد العاملين في الإعلام.

3. تفعيل آليات الحماية الدولية للصحفيين والمدنيين في مناطق النزاع، وضمان وصول المعلومات دون قيود.

4. دعوة المجتمع الدولي والمنظمات الحقوقية إلى تحمل مسؤولياتها تجاه ما يجري في السودان من جرائم ممنهجة ضد حرية التعبير.

لقد سقطت آسيا الخليفة، لكن كلمتها باقية، تذكّرنا بأن الصحافة ليست مهنة بل رسالة، وبأن السودان ما زال ينجب نساءً ورجالاً بحجم الوطن.

هي أسيا الميدان، كما كانت الخنساء بنت عمرو بن الحارث الخنساء أم الشهداء الأربعة التي بكت صخراً رغم صلابتها، تمزج الدموع بالعزة، والحزن بالشرف.

رحم الله آسيا الخليفة، وجعل دمها الطاهر منارةً تفضح الظلم، وصوتاً لا يصمت في ذاكرة الإنسانية.

With due respect and appreciation,

As I, Khansa Mohammed Othman, a lawyer and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary, write this letter in my capacity as an International Arbitrator and Legal Advocate, I extend my voice in mourning and protest over the tragic martyrdom of the field journalist Asia Al-Khalifa — who sacrificed her life for the sake of truth and the principles of humanity.

In one of the darkest moments of the Sudanese conflict that continues to claim lives and erode values, Asia Al-Khalifa, a symbol of courage and integrity, was targeted in El Fasher while documenting the realities of war. She was killed alongside a group of Sudanese soldiers who refused to surrender her to the Rapid Support Forces, declaring, “We will not hand her over — we will defend her honor until our last breath.”

This horrific incident reflects the grave dangers faced by journalists in conflict zones and the deliberate targeting of press freedom and the public’s right to know.

UNESCO has condemned this crime and reaffirmed the necessity of respecting the legal protection of journalists under international humanitarian law. Yet, the silence of the UN Security Council and the inaction of the international community, and the absence of any official statement until this moment, represent a painful failure and a clear

neglect of moral and humanitarian responsibilities.

This horrific incident reflects the grave dangers faced by journalists in conflict zones and the deliberate targeting of press freedom and the public’s right to know.

The targeting of journalist Asia Al-Khalifa was not an isolated act, but rather part of a systematic campaign of atrocities committed by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia – a terrorist organization responsible for mass killings, genocide, ethnic cleansing, rape, displacement, and forced migration against civilians, including women, children, and the elderly.

These acts constitute war crimes and crimes against humanity in clear violation of International Humanitarian Law, the Four Geneva Conventions of 1949 and their Additional Protocols, the International Human Rights Law, and the Charter of the United Nations.

Accordingly, the RSF militia must be classified as a terrorist organization under international law for its grave and systematic violations that threaten international peace and security, and its leaders and supporters must be held fully accountable.

Through this letter, we call for the following actions:

1. An immediate official statement from the UN Security Council condemning the targeting of journalists in Sudan and holding the responsible parties legally accountable.

2. The establishment of an independent international investigation into the assassination of journalist Asia Al-Khalifa and similar violations against media workers.

3. Activation of international protection mechanisms for journalists and civilians in conflict areas, ensuring the free flow of information without restrictions.

4. An urgent appeal to the international community and human rights organizations to assume their responsibilities regarding the systematic crimes being committed against freedom of expression in Sudan.

Asia Al-Khalifa has fallen, but her words remain — a reminder that journalism is not merely a profession but a sacred mission, and that Sudan continues to give birth to men and women as great as its land.

She was Asia of the battlefield, as Al-Khansa bint Amr ibn al-Harith, the mother of four martyrs, once was — a woman who wept for her brother Sakhr with pride and strength, blending tears with honor and grief with dignity.

May Allah have mercy on Asia Al-Khalifa.

May her pure blood stand as a beacon exposing injustice — a voice that shall never be silenced in the memory of humanity.
